..although the images are probably very staged, I think it's hard to get to grips with the fact that the 1940's didn't take place in grainy black and white. Strange how the aesthetics of the photographic image have shaped our perceptions of the past...

darkness, which the heroic male fought off in every corner.'
..This is a collection of photographs taken from my family albums. In each case the photographs display an obvious visual failure to that which was originally intended. Photographs like these have existed in many family archives for decades, but until recently the use of digital cameras - and on the spot editing - has resulted in the decline of such mistakes..
